Sustainable Forest Management in the Driftless Area
Services
Timber Sales & Forest Management
A healthy forest takes a lifetime to achieve and can be comprised too easily by those without the landowners interest as their first priority. Landowners have invested endless time and money to make their property into their getaway. We aim to help landowners meet their management objectives. Whether that means treating invasives creeping into the forest, creating age diversity and edge habitat for wildlife, or managing timber for return on investment, ReGenerational is here to help you meet your management goals. We offer timber marking, cutting notice application, forest product marketing, sale administration, timber stand improvement (TSI), and invasive species treatment.
MFL Plans and Forest Planning
Successful forest management begins with a practical plan. Luckily in Wisconsin this plan can save you thousands of dollars in property taxes every year. The Managed Forest Law (MFL) program is a great opportunity to practice sound forest management while reducing taxes dramatically. ReGenerational is a Certified Plan Writer (CPW) and can handle all you forest planning and mapping needs.
Prairie & Savanna Restoration
The Driftless Area has long been know for its stunning prairies and park like oak savanna. Due to a reduction of wildfire and prescription burning these fire dependent habitats are filling up with an understory of woody debris comprised of undesirable, and often invasive, species. ReGenerational can assist landowners in reviving these delicate ecosystems. Restoring prairie and oak savanna is a great way to add diversity on your property and is beneficial to everything from deer & turkey to butterflies & bees.
About Me
ReGenenerational Forestry & Prairie Restoration is owned by Tyler Rathbun of Nelson, WI. I have a bachelors degree from UWSP in Forest Management (2014) and have worked with both government and private agencies in the forestry sector since graduation. Most recently I was a Procurement Forester for a hardwood sawmill specializing in Black Walnut. My time in the hardwood lumber industry taught me about forest product utilization and financial benefits of forest products. However, I saw that the management of the forests left something to be desired. With my experiences, I can offer landowners access to better log markets as well as better forest health and utilization through movement of low-grade materials that would otherwise be left standing in the woods to hinder regeneration of growing stock. I aim to help landowners grow more volume and higher quality timber, improve wildlife habitat, regenerate timber stands that are reaching maturity, and increase industry professionalism in the Driftless Area. I you would like to talk about forestry please reach out. I would love to hear from you!
